Welcome to the Summer Solstice, aka the the first day of summer or the longest day of the year. If you're anything like me, until this last year or so, I had zero clue about the solstice, what it meant, how to celebrate, or really anything about it! I've learned that this is an incredibly powerful time of the year, especially if you consider yourself of the spiritually included and nature loving variety.
What is the solstice?
The word "solstice" originates from the Latin words sol (sun) and sistere (to stand still), referring to the moment when the sun appears to pause in its journey across the sky. The summer solstice has been celebrated by various cultures and civilizations throughout history, often with religious or spiritual significance. It marks a time of transition and renewal, symbolizing the triumph of light over darkness. For the summer solstice, we honor the Sun giving us the longest day to celebrate! But what are we celebrating, especially if we aren’t religious?
A time of celebration!
The Summer Solstice itself represents enlightenment, awakening and the triumph of light over dark. Since the Winter Solstice, we’ve journeyed through the depths of winter and blossomed with the spring. It was a complete death and rebirth cycle thats been completed at the level of the collective/world. We’ve each gone through our own personal versions as well (cuz I mean we’re all connected).
What does this mean? It means this is a perfect time to reflect on the last 6 months and freaking celebrate all the hard work and letting go you’ve already done! You can think of it as a garden where we’ve planned/contemplated what we wanted to plant, we’ve done the tilling, weeding, and sowing of the seeds. Now we get to celebrate that work and nurture ourselves as we head into the second half of the wheel of the year. Some things to contemplate: What are you celebrate today? What are you grateful for?
A look ahead as well…
It’s also a time of feeling into what you desire and intend for the next 6 months until the next solstice where we’ll be celebrating the the “harvest” of the work we’ve already done and having time to rest and have community. Going back to the garden analogy, during Summer we don’t dig up the veggies we’ve planted to check their progress… we let them flourish until its time to harvest. For us as humans, it’s time to rest into this new version of us that has and is emerging. These words from the song Shedding Skins by Fia encapsulate this perfectly…
“I am open I am free And my life is breathing me As I surrender to the will of the Divine No more stories of the past I am shedding skins at last And I realize I'm already in heaven”
Letting Our Light Shine!
Its time to truly let our beautiful light shine! With that in mind, here are a few things to celebrate and let go of according to your Human Design Type.* If you’re not sure of your type, click here to generate your chart using your birth data.
Generators:
Celebrate your warm, open, and nurturing presence. When you’re doing what you love, you lift the energy of the whole room as you shine so brightly! Celebrate your innate ability to build toward a long term goal while unintentionally inspiring the rest of us along the way!
What you’re being reminded to let go of is the need for the full plan or to be able to see the full staircase. Trust that your gut and authority will lead you to the next right step.
Manifesting Generators:
Celebrate your creative brilliance and ability to inspire the world around you! You show us new ways of doing things! Celebrate your ability to move quickly when you’re ready to start or take massive action!
What you’re being reminded to let go of is the need for the detailed plan. Remember that you’re made to skip steps because you sense they aren’t needed. Do things “imperfectly” while honoring your flow. You can always go back and refine or switch things up later if you find you desire to do so.
Projectors:
Celebrate your unique gifts that you bring into the world! This is your time to brag on the gem you are! Also celebrate your ability to connect deeply with others, cutting right through any BS and getting to the heart of all that makes us human. You see the world differently, this is to be celebrated!
What you’re being reminded to let go of is the fear of not being recognized, the pressure to do it all and be it all, and to make everything happen. When you learn to see yourself, your energy shifts and others will be able to see you better and thus recognize you. The reasons you feel you have to do and be it all is because you can see it better than most and society has conditioned you to believe that because you can see it, you have to execute it all. This is false and nows the time to let that shit go!
Manifestors:
Celebrate how much inner peace you’ve cultivated recently. You have more capacity than ever to find your way back to you! With this new capacity, you now can have an even bigger impact on the world when you’re in your flow and doing your thing! You get the ball rolling and unintentionally shift and help the rest of us see new possibilities! This is magic!
What you’re being reminded to let go of is the resistance to sharing your full self. Your people want to celebrate you — ALL OF YOU! Even the parts of you that you fear are just too much.
Reflectors
Celebrate the wisdom you bring to the world. There aren’t many of you yet you’re exceptional mirrors for any situation you’re in. Celebrate your ability to connect super deeply with others because you truly meet them where they are at in this moment.
What you’re being reminded to let go of is your fear of being invisible and the pressure to “know yourself”. Can you allow yourself to be whatever version of yourself you are in this moment, with these people? And celebrate how multifaceted you are?
